Westfield Avenue Update

We’re thrilled to share that we’re working alongside Newham Council in partnership with the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC), with support from the Mayor of London, to embark on a transformative project along Westfield Avenue and the southern segment of Waterden Road.

The Westfield Avenue Public Realm Improvement scheme marks a significant milestone in Newham’s Just Transition Climate Action plans and aligns with the Council’s vision of creating London’s first Green Zone in Stratford as part of the Building a Fairer Newham initiative.

Earlier today, Mayor Rokhsana Fiaz OBE and Deputy Mayor Councillor James Asser, joined by esteemed guests including Lyn Garner, Chief Executive of LLDC; Shirley Rodrigues, London’s Deputy Mayor for Environment and Energy; and Dr. Will Norman, London’s Walking and Cycling Commissioner, celebrated the commencement of construction works.

This project aims to enhance the public realm and transport infrastructure to promote walking and cycling, with improvements such as wider pavements, segregated cycle tracks, additional cycle stands, enhanced crossings, and the introduction of 60 new trees, 31 rain gardens, and 15 planting beds.

With a ยฃ12 million investment, this initiative will facilitate safer and more accessible routes between Westfield Stratford City, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, and Hackney. Phase 1 construction began in January 2024, with works scheduled for completion by 2026.

We’re proud to be part of this transformative project that will enhance connectivity, sustainability, and the overall quality of life in our community. Stay tuned for more updates as we progress towards a greener, more vibrant future!
