Celebrating Progress: Phase 5 of the Royal Docks Corridor

As Phase 5 of the Royal Docks Corridor (RDC) draws to a close, we’re delighted to share the story of this transformational initiative—celebrating what’s been achieved, thanking everyone involved, and looking ahead to the exciting next stages.

Bringing the Corridor to Life

Over the past months, our dedicated teams have been hard at work:

Renewing the carriageway along Royal Albert Way and adjacent streets, delivering a smoother, safer surface for motorists and cyclists alike. Introducing dedicated cycle lanes, improving connectivity and encouraging active travel across the corridor. Reconstructing pedestrian footways, complete with tactile paving to enhance accessibility at every crossing. Landscaping and planting along verges and in community gardens, transforming once-tired strips of land into vibrant green spaces. Upgrading street lighting with energy‑efficient fittings and distinctive feature bollards, boosting both safety and ambience. Enhancing drainage, clearing and renewing gullies to better manage surface water and reduce flood risk. Adding street furniture and signage, including benches, wayfinding posts, and new trees to enrich the public realm.

Each element of this work has been delivered with an eye to quality, longevity, and the needs of local residents and businesses.

A Heartfelt Thank You from the Community

One recent message from a local resident captured the spirit of the project perfectly:

“I would like to thank all of the workers completing the Royal Docks Corridor. I’m in constant awe of anyone who can put anything together, let alone reconstruct a whole stretch of road and garden too! It’s wonderful to see the improvements in the area, and I thank all of you for the effort made in beautifying our area. I regularly look forward to seeing what’s being completed next. Thank you so much.”

Feedback like this reminds us why we do what we do: creating infrastructure that not only functions well, but also enhances daily life and sparks community pride.

Collaborating for Success

None of this would have been possible without the close partnership of Newham Council. From early design reviews and planning approvals, through to stakeholder engagement and on‑the‑ground coordination, their support has been invaluable. Together, we’ve navigated challenges, shared insights, and ensured that every stage of the work aligns with the council’s vision for a more connected, greener borough.

Looking Ahead to New Phases

With Phase 5 coming to an end, our focus now turns to the next chapters of the RDC project. Future phases will carry forward the same principles: enhancing safety, improving sustainable travel options, and creating welcoming public spaces. We’re excited by the opportunities ahead—from new traffic‑calming measures and public art installations to expanded green infrastructure and smart‑city technologies.

Gratitude and Commitment

To everyone who rolled up their sleeves on this project—from site crews and engineers to planners, designers, and community engagement specialists—thank you. Your expertise, teamwork, and unwavering commitment have brought Phase 5 to fruition and set the stage for what’s next.

As we embark on the coming phases, we remain dedicated to working hand in hand with Newham Council and the local community. Together, we will continue to deliver high‑quality improvements that connect, beautify, and inspire.

Stay tuned for updates on the next exciting steps of the Royal Docks Corridor. We look forward to sharing more milestones soon!
