At Kenson we are so pleased we could assist with the ‘Car Free’ High Street in Wanstead day, last Sunday. Our Traffic management division ensured at each point of the closure there were personnel on hand to direct vehicular traffic onto the designated diversion route. They ensured all pedestrians on the High Street were aware of the changes to the road conditions in place throughout the day as well as cycling activities on hand for all to enjoy. Our welfare vehicle was on site to enable, not just Kenson team members but event organisers, somewhere to rest throughout the day, making use of our on-board refreshments during the event. Before opening the road and returning it to general road users we assisted the street cleaning team directly with their final duties of the day.
Protecting the environment and building a sustainable future is very important to Kenson and this event promoted active and sustainable travel options, clean air initiatives and other environmental projects that Redbridge Council are undertaking. One of Kensons electric vehicles was used through the event to highlight our pledge to reduce our carbon emissions, in support of a sustainable future.
The event saw thousands of residents and families gather to learn about the new initiatives Redrbidge council are putting in place including the new cycle hangars currently being installed across the borough.
