Kenson Highways is pleased to announce the completion of another key phase of works along Pool Street in the London Borough of Newham, with the area continuing to take shape as part of a wider public realm and infrastructure improvement scheme.
The recently completed stage of works has introduced a range of sustainable and pedestrian-focused enhancements designed to improve the local environment, support biodiversity and create a more accessible streetscape for the community.
Key improvements delivered as part of this phase include the installation of new rain gardens and tree planters, helping to introduce additional greenery while supporting sustainable urban drainage across the area. Underground tree cell systems with uncompacted soil have also been incorporated beneath the surface, allowing for healthy root growth while integrating Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) to assist with stormwater management and reduce surface water runoff.
Additional landscaping works have included the placement of fresh mulch and the planting of new trees, with further planting scheduled as the project progresses through the next stages of delivery.
Alongside these environmental improvements, Kenson Highways has also completed renewed resin-bound footways and delivered a widened, upgraded pedestrian crossing to improve accessibility, connectivity and safety for local residents and visitors.
While the project is still in its early stages, it is exciting to see the transformation of Pool Street progressing at pace. Each completed phase brings the scheme closer to delivering a greener, more attractive and more resilient public space for the borough.
