Kenson Highways was proud to support and help deliver the Grand Opening Family Day celebrating the completion of the Royal Docks Corridor — a fantastic community event held on behalf of The Royal Docks Team, the Greater London Authority and Newham Council.
The event brought together local residents, families, project partners and stakeholders to celebrate the successful completion of this important infrastructure scheme and to showcase the positive impact the corridor will have across the area.
As part of the day, Kenson Highways helped create an engaging and welcoming environment packed with activities for all ages. Families enjoyed a wide range of interactive experiences, including mini manual excavators in a giant sandpit, giant Jenga, Connect 4, Cornhole and the opportunity for children to climb aboard full-size construction equipment for photographs and role play.
The event also featured live excavator demonstrations, a fully remote-controlled Bobcat skid steer, Bike Ballet performances, skateboard workshops, planting activities and mulch spreading sessions. Throughout the day, young visitors proudly became “Kenson Helpers” with mini hard hats, high-visibility vests, prizes and goodie bags adding to the excitement and atmosphere.
One of the highlights of the event was the overwhelmingly positive feedback received from both the local community and project stakeholders. Kenson Highways was especially proud to receive recognition from the London Borough of Newham’s Senior Project Manager, who praised the team’s dedication and commitment in helping make the event such a success.
The day demonstrated far more than the completion of a major infrastructure project — it showcased the value of partnership working, community engagement and creating spaces that local people can enjoy and feel connected to.
For Kenson Highways, the event marked one of the most successful and rewarding engagement days we have been part of. It was fantastic to see so many families enjoying the space together and celebrating the transformation of the Royal Docks Corridor.
We would like to thank everyone who attended, supported and contributed to the event, as well as the teams and partners whose hard work made both the project and the celebration possible.
